‘Oh, we need to go testing’

In conversation with Joshua Brookes, Milwaukee BMW rider

- As Karel described earlier, the electronics need a bit of work but what are the areas of the bike you think need work? Your best results were in Australia and since then the charts have been a mixed bag. Now that it’s the midseason, what are your expecta

BikeIndia ( BI): Josh, today’s race you started 15th and finished 12th. What do you have to say about that?

Quite disappointing, really, because in Assen I was like 15th on the grid and I got to first, so the changes that they put in the bike this weekend were not the correct ones. I wasn’t really pleased with the direction of the bike but I took the direction of the team; that seemed the best thing to do and in the race to come 12th is really a big disappointment. At least now as I try and look at the positives, it’s clear to see what works and what doesn’t, so at least in the future we can use the race win I got at the front and the race win I couldn’t as the extreme ends of the variation and we know which area to stay in.

Joshua Brookes (JB):

BI: JB: Yeah, we need to work on the electronics. It is impossible to measure how well the suspension/chassis feeling is when the electronics have a big influence. If you break an arm, you don’t realise that you have also been bitten by a bug. It’s the electronics, after that we can focus on the chassis feeling and adjust the bike a little bit to this track and the next track. But the big picture, really, is the electronic area. BI:

Oh, we need to go testing. We started the year with two days and then we started racing and then now we arrive at round six and we still haven’t done any testing. Going from race to race to race it’s impossible to improve the bike; even the best riders and the best teams can’t develop the bike during the race weekend. This
