Performance Enhancement
I am an avid fan of Bike India and would like to say that it is the best motorcycle magazine in the country. I have a question regarding my five-year-old Yamaha FZ-S. The bike has done 50,000 km and I want to change its piston and cylinder. I want to replace the current carburettor set-up with that from the new FZ (that is, the fuel-injected 149-cc one). I also want to fit a Daytona exhaust on my FZ for added performance. Can it all be done? Please advise me. Awaneesh Tripathi, Lucknow
It is possible to convert your carburettor FZ into a fuel-injected one, but the cost involved would not justify the effort. You may, however, go ahead with replacing the current set-up with the standard cylinder and piston meant for the carburettor model. As for the Daytona exhaust, you may improve the performance of the bike by fitting it, but see to it that the service personnel at Yamaha tune the bike up accordingly.
