BI GARAGE

- HONDA Navi Aninda Sardar

MY COMMUTE FROM HOME TO OFFICE CONSISTS OF 15 KILOMETRES THROUGH Pune’s crowded and increasingly infuriating rush-hour traffic. Now, no one in his right mind would deny that this is the ideal environment for a scooter. Yet, somehow, the motorcycle enthusiast in me never really warmed up to the idea of a scooter. I don’t deny for a second that the scooter’s twist-and-go ability is definitely more desirable than the functioning of a motorcycle when you have a traffic punctuation every 100 to 150 metres.

As a result, when Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) showcased the Navi concept at the Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi, I for one ended up drooling. Here was the answer to my transport woes: the functionality of a scooter with the soul of a motorcycle. I couldn’t wait to ride it. Not too many moons back I rode it around the wonderfully unique world of Adlabs Imagica. As soon as I had ridden it, I knew I wanted one for long term.

It appears now that Honda have been keeping track of my secret desires for the Navi all along and those wonderful people at what is undoubtedly the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world have now sent one to join the Bike India long-term fleet. Stay tuned for more of fun with the Honda Navi as we put it through our long-term test.
