Hero Showcase Dakar-ready RR 450
ALL SET TO TACKLE THE DAKAR RALLY ONCE AGAIN, HERO MOTOSPORTS announced their team for Dakar 2018 and also showcased the new Hero RR 450 motorcycle. Hero Motosports’ two-man team has been augmented with the addition of a new rider. The team now comprises Joaquim Rodrigues (number 26), CS Santosh (number 49) and Oriol Mena (number 61).
The Hero RR 450 is powered by a 450-cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which is mounted within a chromoly (chromium-molybdenum) frame. The motorcycle is not equipped with any rider aids, including rideby-wire. The basic and simple layout allows the riders to perform quick repairs, if necessary. The instrument console features GPS, compass, road book, and other navigation equipment. Weight has been controlled with the use of lightweight parts, including carbon-fibre bits. Final contact with the ground is taken care of by Michelinwrapped wheels; 21-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear. The RR 450 also features WP suspension and a threelitre water tank below the engine (for the rider, in case of an emergency).
