2018 Yamaha YZF-R1
THE FLAGSHIP YAMMIE THAT SHARES TECHNOLOGY WITH VALE’S (AND Viñales’s) YZR-M1 MotoGP bike is here, and comes with a price tag of Rs 20.73 lakh (ex-showroom). Indian fans have been salivating at the latest iteration from this much vaunted lineage ever since it broke cover at international shows earlier in the year and now, finally, the bike has been launched in our market as well.
The new R1 remains quite similar to the earlier version with the same 998cc, in-line four-cylinder motor powering the bike. It comes with Yamaha’s crossplane technology, which is derived from the company’s MotoGP efforts. The new R1 produces a massive 200 PS and 112.4 Nm. The bike continues to have topnotch electronics, frame, and suspension, all coming from the world of MotoGP. However, there is a new addition for 2018 in the form of the new Quick Shifter System or QSS which now allows clutch-less down-shifts as well as upshifts.
The bike is on sale in India now and is available in two colours: Tech Black and Yamaha Blue.
