Agilent to expand manufacturing and research in Singapore
Agilent Technologies will increase its advanced manufacturing and applied research and development capabilities in Singapore with investments and business expenditures of S$85 million over the next five years. These investments and expenditures will enable the Singapore facility to offer complete end-to-end manufacturing, test, and supply chain management, equipped with state-of-the-art automated systems.
Agilent will add 30,000 square feet within its existing facility and create approximately 100 new jobs in R&D, advanced manufacturing, service and sales over the next five years. The expansion will leverage advanced manufacturing systems and automated production technologies to support the production of a broader range of high-end analytical instruments, especially the mass-spec products.
The recently launched breakthrough mass spectrometry instrument, Ultivo, is a great example of a product designed in collaboration by engineers in the US and Singapore that will be manufactured in Singapore.
Agilent moved to its Yishun facility in 2002 and established its LC/MS facility in 2010. Today, the Singapore facility also produces other Agilent instruments, as well as lab-automation products. It is home to Agilent University that offers customers and employees more than 200 technology courses on techniques in mass spectroscopy, gas chromatography and liquid chromatography.
