UAE to develop medical research centres
A national plan was approved during a Cabinet meeting recently, to develop medical research centres across the UAE. The Cabinet also approved the national plan’s strategy to establish research and development centres in the health-care sector in cooperation with academic institutions. The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VicePresident and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The strategy’s objectives are to unify efforts across the UAE to set up medical research centres that can contribute to developing, supporting and distributing scientific studies to better understand the medical challenges facing the community, as well as looking into solutions for the aforementioned challenges through research and epidemiological studies. Through the medical research centres, the Cabinet is seeking for a clearer understanding and in-depth research regarding health challenges pertaining to the society, and the health-care services that will be required during the coming decades.
