Medtronic in­tro­duces IN.PACT Ad­mi­ral DCB in Ja­pan

Dublin-based Medtronic has an­nounced the com­mer­cial launch of the IN.PACT Ad­mi­ral Drug-Coated Bal­loon (DCB) in Ja­pan. IN.PACT Ad­mi­ral DCB is a clin­i­cally proven, pri­mary en­dovas­cu­lar ther­apy that treats femoropopliteal dis­ease, re­duces in­ter­ven­tions, and pre­serves fu­ture treat­ment op­tions.

Last year, the

Ja­panese Min­istry of Health, La­bor and Wel­fare (MHLW) granted ap­proval for IN.PACT Ad­mi­ral for the treat­ment of pe­riph­eral artery dis­ease (PAD) in the up­per leg specif­i­cally, in the thigh (su­per­fi­cial femoral ar­ter­ies (SFA) and be­hind the knee (popliteal ar­ter­ies). This de­vel­op­ment fol­lows the com­ple­tion of a post-mar­ket clin­i­cal trial, which was con­ducted on 300 sub­jects.
