Canon In­dia Pvt Ltd., In­dia’s No. 1 Com­plete Dig­i­tal Imag­ing Com­pany, an­nounced the launch of its first ul­tra­light portable scan­ner im­age FORUMLA P-201 scan­ner along with the in­tro­duc­tion of Cap­tureOnTouch, a mo­bile ap­pli­ca­tion for easy scan­ning on the go. The scan­ner and ap­pli­ca­tion to­gether will help con­sumers to ef­fec­tively scan the doc­u­ments in va­ri­ety of file for­mats like PDF, JPEG and so forth. Users can fur­ther share the scans through e-mail or ar­chive in other ap­pli­ca­tions on a click. Canon has es­tab­lished a dis­tinct po­si­tion in the doc­u­ment scan­ning mar­ket with in­no­va­tive prod­ucts cou­pled with best-in­class fea­tures. The brand has a mar­ket share of 25.1% with re­spect to unit ship­ment in High­Speed Doc­u­ment Imag­ing Scan­ner dur­ing the pe­riod 2013 (Jan-Jun 2013). Canon is ranked #1 in the Sheetfed cat­e­gory dur­ing the pe­riod 2013 (Jan-Jun 2013) as per IDC re­lease. The or­gan­i­sa­tion is plan­ning to se­cure a sim­i­lar lead­er­ship for the new emerg­ing portable scan­ning cat­e­gory. P-201 in­tro­duc­tion in In­dian mar­ket is a per­fect fit in the grow­ing con­sumer re­quire­ment for a cost-ef­fec­tive, com­pact scan­ner. Canon is mainly tar­get­ing two seg­ments – house­holds which have enor­mous per­sonal hard copy doc­u­ments like mark­sheets, loan agree­ment, in­sur­ance poli­cies and sales rep­re­sen­ta­tives of in­sur­ance com­pa­nies who dig­i­tize cus­tomer doc­u­ments on-site. Be­sides this, de­mand for mo­bile scan­ning is ex­pected to rise for fre­quent trav­el­ers, SOHO’s, MSME/SMEs, doc­tors, etc. Scan­ning any­time, any­where of im­por­tant doc­u­ments with P-201 is just a plug away. Porta­bil­ity, con­ve­nience and com­fort of scan­ning through a va­ri­ety of de­vices have helped Canon brand the prod­uct as “My Per­sonal Scan­ner”. a busi­ness of Rs. 15 crore in this seg­ment of mo­bile scan­ning and tar­get­ing a to­tal digi­ti­sa­tion pie of Rs. 100 crore in 2014. This is 50% growth over 2013”. Fur­ther Dr. Bharadwaj added, “There are 2 mil­lion sell­ing agents for BFSI ver­ti­cal. In­dia will mod­ern­ize the last mile sales trans­ac­tions. The scan­ner has been made avail­able across In­dia af­ter 16th Oc­to­ber, 2013 and sold on all Canon Im­age Square stores and re­tail out­lets. Canon will be work­ing with its en­ter­prise sales team and chan­nel part­ners to en­sure deeper pen­e­tra­tion of the scan­ner in smaller mar­kets.

Scan­ner fea­tures:

P-201 is ca­pa­ble of scan­ning va­ri­ety of doc­u­ment sizes and pa­per den­si­ties like plain pa­per, post­card and busi­ness card. The scan­ner scans at a speed of 7.5 sec­onds per page with a 200 x 200 dpi re­sult. It has con­tact im­age sen­sor and sup­ports sim­plex scan­ning side. The scan­ner weighs only 550 gms and con­sumes 2.5 W elec­tric­ity when con­nected with ca­ble. The scan­ner is loaded with lat­est im­age pro­cess­ing op­tions and is equipped with an Au­to­matic Pa­per Size De­tec­tion. P-201 has auto color de­tec­tion which in­tel­li­gently de­ter­mines whether to save the scan in Grayscale or Color; this elim­i­nates the need to man­u­ally switch be­tween mono and color modes.

Canon’s Cap­tureOnTouch Mo­bile is a free ap­pli­ca­tion for smart­phones and tablets. It al­lows users to scan di­rectly to iOS (iPad/iPhone) and An­droid de­vices via Wi-Fi net­work or di­rect plug-in with USB based tablets. Users can also share doc­u­ments eas­ily by email or by up­load­ing to their favourite cloud-based ap­pli­ca­tions. Cap­tureOnTouch is avail­able on both Google Play and itunes start­ing.
