• Targets 15 million households enabling digital content for homes with the launch of image FORUMLA P-201 portable scanner. • Strengthens Enterprise “Sales Tool-Kit” for on-the-move scanning in Banking & Insurance (BFSI) vertical. • Consolidates footprint in Digitisation space to generate a 100 Crore business by 2014. Canon India Pvt Ltd., India’s No. 1 Complete Digital Imaging Company, announced the launch of its first ultralight portable scanner image FORUMLA P-201 scanner along with the introduction of CaptureOnTouch, a mobile application for easy scanning on the go. The scanner and application together will help consumers to effectively scan the documents in variety of file formats like PDF, JPEG and so forth. Users can further share the scans through e-mail or archive in other applications on a click. Canon has established a distinct position in the document scanning market with innovative products coupled with best-inclass features. The brand has a market share of 25.1% with respect to unit shipment in HighSpeed Document Imaging Scanner during the period 2013 (Jan-Jun 2013). Canon is ranked #1 in the Sheetfed category during the period 2013 (Jan-Jun 2013) as per IDC release. The organisation is planning to secure a similar leadership for the new emerging portable scanning category. P-201 introduction in Indian market is a perfect fit in the growing consumer requirement for a cost-effective, compact scanner. Canon is mainly targeting two segments – households which have enormous personal hard copy documents like marksheets, loan agreement, insurance policies and sales representatives of insurance companies who digitize customer documents on-site. Besides this, demand for mobile scanning is expected to rise for frequent travelers, SOHO’s, MSME/SMEs, doctors, etc. Scanning anytime, anywhere of important documents with P-201 is just a plug away. Portability, convenience and comfort of scanning through a variety of devices have helped Canon brand the product as “My Personal Scanner”. Speaking on this occasion Mr. Kazutada Kobayashi, President & CEO, Canon India Pvt Ltd, said, “Canon has always been at the forefront of bringing innovative products to customers. The new portable scanner with mobile application by Canon is going to change the way an individual manages documents. Canon has been successfully addressing the digitisation requirements for governments and corporate for many years now. With CaptureOnTouch and P-201 scanner we are hoping to strengthen our ability to meet individuals’ digitisation needs. This is a path breaking offering to today’s consumer who wants everything a touch away. With the new scanner, we clearly want to establish innovation leadership in India.” he added.

said, “India is probably the world’s largest analogue country where most of the important and critical information lies in files at homes, offices & godowns. While consumption of digital content is increasing manifolds with various smart devices, creation of content is still not within easy reach. Canon is redefining the market for scanners by launching a portable scanner for households. We expect to create

a business of Rs. 15 crore in this segment of mobile scanning and targeting a total digitisation pie of Rs. 100 crore in 2014. This is 50% growth over 2013”. Further Dr. Bharadwaj added, “There are 2 million selling agents for BFSI vertical. India will modernize the last mile sales transactions. The portable scanner will help in making this more efficient”. The scanner has been made available across India after 16th October, 2013 and sold on all Canon Image Square stores and retail outlets. Canon will be working with its enterprise sales team and channel partners to ensure deeper penetration of the scanner in smaller markets.
