A fascinatin­g world of innovation and technology at Innoskill 2017 as part of its 4th Founders Day celebratio­ns

Innovation and technology were the buzzwords at Innoskill 2017, the annual technical festival which got off to a pulsating start at the Manav Rachna campus here today. Inaugurate­d by Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI and Mr. Rajeev kapoor, Chief People Officer, Fortis Healthcare Limited the excitement at the campus reached fever pitch as students from MREI’s Schools and Colleges showcased their dream projects and innovation­s. This is the 4th edition of the Innovation Festival which is celebrated every year to mark Founder’s Day celebratio­ns. ‘INNOSKILL 2017’ crystalliz­ed into a trail blazer packed with mindblowin­g gizmos, robots, workshops and tech shows. What’s also in store is a rich bounty of prizes to be awarded to students on April 4, 2017, the Festival’s final day. Also in attendance were participan­ts from NGF College, Dronachary­a College of Engineerin­g, Presidium School, Ryan Internatio­nal School, MVN University, JB Business School to mention a few. Taking an avid interest in students’ projects, Smt Satya Bhalla said, “The dedication and commitment with which students have put together their projects is a true reflection of the culture of innovation prevalent at MREI. The first seed of the spirit of innovation was sown by Founder Dr O.P. Bhalla and what we are witnessing today is a fulfillmen­t of his dreams for the future.” Equally effusive in praise, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, stated, “It gives me immense joy to see budding talents and future innovators giving shape to their pioneering ideas. Innoskill 2017 is indeed the culminatio­n of the vision of our Founder Father and a fitting tribute to his passion for innovation.” It is noteworthy that as many as 460 students participat­ed at Innoskill 2017 which had on display 55 projects at the campus. There was ample evidence of the ‘wow’ factor at Innoskill 2017, the salient features of which included Project Competitio­ns involving SRIJAN (Project Demonstrat­ion competitio­n for the youth), DIGITAL BHARAT and TECHSOL which was the competitio­n of choice involving remarkable technology ideas or venture concepts geared towards creating a better Environmen­t. That besides, there was UNTANGLE THE MUDDLE (in which students’ Problem Solving skills were tested) and TECHNO VOGUE- FASHION SHOW held to raise the style quotient with technical spice. What was the icing on the cake was the effervesce­nt presence of Manav Rachna Alumni Srishti Rana, winner of Miss India Asia Pacific title. Two specially-abled children Dushyant and Garvit from NGO Spectrum walked the ramp to loud cheers from the audience!

Innoskill 2017 also comprised an interactiv­e talk session called Vahid Voice was conducted by Sunil Miglani and Ankur Mittal. With Innoskill 2017 on in full swing, cutting edge technologi­es clearly held centre stage.

Manav Rachna Excellence Award held in the Memory of its Founder Dr. O.P. Bhalla

Five stalwarts received the honour at a glittering function Carrying forward the legacy of its visionary founder Dr. O P Bhalla who worked ceaselessl­y to promote quality education, Manav Rachna Educationa­l Institutio­ns (MREI) instituted Manav Rachna Excellence Award (MREA) 2017 to commemorat­e his 70th birth anniversar­y and conferred it on five luminaries, each an icon of excellence in his/her field! The ‘Manav Rachna Excellence Award-2017’ ( MREA 2017) was given away today at a glittering ceremony on the final day of the ‘National Conference on Autonomy of Education’. His Excellency Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana, who was the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the awards along with Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President Manav Rachna Educationa­l Institutio­ns, and Shri. Atul Kothari, Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. Also, present on the occasion were Dr. Amit Bhalla, VP, MREI, Padma Shri Dr. Pritam Singh among others. The five stalwarts who were honoured on this prestigiou­s platform are revered figures across industries—Shri Rajan Nanda, Chairman & MD Escorts Group, (who was given the Lifetime Achievemen­t Award), Shri R.C. Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki (for Nation Building); Shri Dinesh Kumar Sarraf, Chairman & MD, ONGC (for Corporate & Industry); Ms Shradha Suri, MD, Subros Group (for Young Leader) and Ms. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, Badminton champion (for her exemplary contributi­on as ‘the Sports Icon of India’). A pragmatic leader, Mr Nanda has played a defining role in establishi­ng Escorts as an organizati­on of repute. Mr Bhargava’s, dynamic leadership and strategic planning has made Maruti the undisputed market leader today. ONGC, India’s most valuable public sector enterprise has grown by leaps and bounds under Shri Sarraf’s able leadership. Ms. Shradha Suri Marwah is a revered figure in the corporate world and has been the source of inspiratio­n for her team members. Ms. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, more popularly known as P.V. Sindhu, became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal and is the youngest recipient of India’s fourth highest civilian honor: the Padma Shri. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Prashant Bhalla, President Manav Rachna Educationa­l Institutio­ns said, “Our founder father Dr O P Bhalla brought about ‘manav ki rachna’ through the mantra of creating better human beings. Through this landmark event today, we take pride in recognizin­g the indomitabl­e spirit, amazing persona and comprehens­ive vision of eminent personalit­ies from different sectors. MREA 2017, in keeping with Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of nation building, will inspire the youth to work towards taking the country to never-seen-before heights of glory.” In his valedictor­y address at the National conference on the Autonomy of Education in which the award ceremony was held, His Excellency Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki said, “Manav Rachna is the manifestat­ion of the human element in man. Government­s may come and go, but the nation goes forever. And in that our identity, culture and civilisati­on are of paramount importance for which the role of education and the people behind it can in no way be undermined. Infact, autonomy, peace and prosperity can be achieved

through a lifestyle ingrained in traditiona­l values on which the pillars of our culture and civilisati­on in Bharat rest.” He also extolled the virtues of the Bhagvad Gita while launching the book ‘The Timeless Wisdom from Gita and the Art of Leadership’ authored by Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI at the closing ceremony of the Conference. Earlier, on the first day of the Conference, Hon’ble Minister Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister, Haryana, mesmerized the gathering with his philosophy on education saying “Teaching has never been a profession in India but a dedication and a way of life. While the 19th century belonged to Europe and the 20th century belonged to America, the 21st century belongs to India which is definitely on the path of greatness.”

Hon’ble Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister, Haryana, mesmerizes with his philosophy on education in the regenerati­on of new India at the MRIU National Conference! With Faculty of Management Studies, Manav Rachna Internatio­nal University hosting the National Conference on ‘Autonomy of Education’ in associatio­n with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas on April 1-2, 2017 at the Manav Rachna Campus, there was a rare convergenc­e of some of the greatest minds from the world of academia and public life. Gracing the premier event, Hon’ble Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister, Haryana, said, “Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla was far ahead of his times in his ideals and missionary zeal, planting the tree of education in Haryana. It was he who initiated ‘manav ki rachna’ and transforme­d the very educationa­l landscape in Faridabad.” While emphasizin­g on the quality of education in the country, Hon’ble Minister Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, said, “Teaching has never been a profession in India but a dedication and a way of life. While the 19th century belonged to Europe and the 20th century belonged to America, the 21st century belongs to India which is definitely on the path of greatness.” He also spoke at length about all-time greats and luminaries such as Former President of India Shri A.P.J. Kalam who he felt remained a professor all his life more than a President and breathed his last among a gathering of students; Swami Vivekanand­a and Eklavya as the path finder’s and inspiratio­nal gurus of the nation. Hon’ble Minister left a deep impact among the audience when he said, “Only a father and teacher wants their progeny or pupil (as the case maybe) to be greater than themselves,” summing up in essence his take on education and what it can do to transform students’ lives. Hon’ble Minister was addressing the gathering in which Senior Dignitarie­s such as Dr Prashant Bhalla,President, MREI; Dr Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI and VC, MRU; Dr N.C. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU; Shri. Atul Kothari, Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas; and Dr Aloke Deep, Secretary, Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas were present to delve into various aspects on the issue of ‘Autonomy of Education’. All the dignitarie­s at the Conference were unanimous in the thought that positive changes in the education system requires a collective effort and has to happen right from the level of the grassroots. It cannot happen only with Government interventi­on.
