Innovation and technology were the buzzwords at Innoskill 2017, the annual technical festival which got off to a pulsating start at the Manav Rachna campus here today. Inaugurated by Smt Satya Bhalla, Chief Patron, MREI, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI and Mr. Rajeev kapoor, Chief People Officer, Fortis Healthcare Limited the excitement at the campus reached fever pitch as students from MREI’s Schools and Colleges showcased their dream projects and innovations. This is the 4th edition of the Innovation Festival which is celebrated every year to mark Founder’s Day celebrations. ‘INNOSKILL 2017’ crystallized into a trail blazer packed with mindblowing gizmos, robots, workshops and tech shows. What’s also in store is a rich bounty of prizes to be awarded to students on April 4, 2017, the Festival’s final day. The first seed of the spirit of innovation was sown by Founder Dr O.P. Bhalla and what we are witnessing today is a fulfillment of his dreams for the future.” Equally effusive in praise, Dr Amit Bhalla, Vice President, MREI, stated, “It gives me immense joy to see budding talents and future innovators giving shape to their pioneering ideas. Innoskill 2017 is indeed the culmination of the vision of our Founder Father and a fitting tribute to his passion for innovation.” It is noteworthy that as many as 460 students participated at Innoskill 2017 which had on display 55 projects at the campus. There was ample evidence of the ‘wow’ factor at Innoskill 2017, the salient features of which included Project Competitions involving SRIJAN (Project Demonstration competition for the youth), DIGITAL BHARAT and TECHSOL which was the competition of choice involving remarkable technology ideas or venture concepts geared towards creating a better Environment. That besides, there was UNTANGLE THE MUDDLE (in which students’ Problem Solving skills were tested) and TECHNO VOGUE- FASHION SHOW held to raise the style quotient with technical spice. What was the icing on the cake was the effervescent presence of Manav Rachna Alumni Srishti Rana, winner of Miss India Asia Pacific title. Two specially-abled children Dushyant and Garvit from NGO Spectrum walked the ramp to loud cheers from the audience!

And in that our identity, culture and civilisation are of paramount importance for which the role of education and the people behind it can in no way be undermined. Infact, autonomy, peace and prosperity can be achieved

through a lifestyle ingrained in traditional values on which the pillars of our culture and civilisation in Bharat rest.” He also extolled the virtues of the Bhagvad Gita while launching the book ‘The Timeless Wisdom from Gita and the Art of Leadership’ authored by Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, MD, MREI at the closing ceremony of the Conference. While the 19th century belonged to Europe and the 20th century belonged to America, the 21st century belongs to India which is definitely on the path of greatness.”

With Faculty of Management Studies, Manav Rachna International University hosting the National Conference on ‘Autonomy of Education’ in association with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas on April 1-2, 2017 at the Manav Rachna Campus, there was a rare convergence of some of the greatest minds from the world of academia and public life. Gracing the premier event, Hon’ble Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, Education Minister, Haryana, said, “Founder Visionary Dr O.P. Bhalla was far ahead of his times in his ideals and missionary zeal, planting the tree of education in Haryana. It was he who initiated ‘manav ki rachna’ and transformed the very educational landscape in Faridabad.” While emphasizing on the quality of education in the country, Hon’ble Minister Shri Ram Bilas Sharma, said, “Teaching has never been a profession in India but a dedication and a way of life. While the 19th century belonged to Europe and the 20th century belonged to America, the 21st century belongs to India which is definitely on the path of greatness.” He also spoke at length about all-time greats and luminaries such as Former President of India Shri A.P.J. Kalam who he felt remained a professor all his life more than a President and breathed his last among a gathering of students; Swami Vivekananda and Eklavya as the path finder’s and inspirational gurus of the nation. Hon’ble Minister left a deep impact among the audience when he said, “Only a father and teacher wants their progeny or pupil (as the case maybe) to be greater than themselves,” summing up in essence his take on education and what it can do to transform students’ lives. Wadhwa, VC, MRIU; Shri. Atul Kothari, Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas; and Dr Aloke Deep, Secretary, Secretary, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas were present to delve into various aspects on the issue of ‘Autonomy of Education’. All the dignitaries at the Conference were unanimous in the thought that positive changes in the education system requires a collective effort and has to happen right from the level of the grassroots. It cannot happen only with Government intervention.
