Vedanta hires Venkatakrishnan as chief executive
Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Resources has appointed Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan ( pictured) the chief executive officer (CEO), effective August 31, 2018. Venkatakrishnan (53), who would be part of the board of directors, would succeed Kuldip Kaura, interim CEO.
“Venkat brings a wealth of experience in corporate and other roles in the UK, Africa, Australia, South America, and India. He also has a strong track record managing a complex portfolio of operating assets and projects across Africa,” Agarwal said.
Since 2013, Venkatakrishnan has been CEO of AngloGold Ashanti, the world’s largest emerging gold producer. Between 2005 and 2013, he was AngloGold’s CFO and prior to this, he was the CFO of London-listed Ashanti Goldfields.
“My initial focus will be to ensure continued operational excellence, efficient cost management, and capital discipline across the portfolio, while continuing to drive improvements to the overall sustainability performance of the business, thereby creating along term value for all stakeholders ,” Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan said.
