124th Foun­da­tion Day of PNB

Pun­jab Na­tional Bank was founded as an off shoot of Swadeshi move­ment by the Lion of Pun­jab Lala La­j­pat Rai along with other free­dom fight­ers. PNB has the dis­tinc­tion of be­ing the first In­dian bank to have been started solely with In­dian cap­i­tal owned, man­aged and op­er­ated by the In­di­ans for the ben­e­fit of the In­di­ans. The Bank opened for busi­ness on 12 April 1895 in La­hore. To com­mem­o­rate the Foun­da­tion Day, Mum­bai Sub­ur­ban Cir­cle and its Branches or­ga­nized var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties under CSR.
