Big bet on SIPs: Mu­tual funds garner ~671.9 bn in FY18

Re­tail in­vestors are tak­ing to sys­tem­atic in­vest­ment plans (SIPs) for in­vest­ing in mu­tual funds (MFs), with the in­dus­try gar­ner­ing around ~671.90 bil­lion through this route in 2017-18, a 53 per cent in­crease from ~439.21 bil­lion in 2016-17, ac­cord­ing to the lat­est data of the As­so­ci­a­tion of Mu­tual Funds in In­dia (Amfi). The ris­ing in­ter­est in SIPs is mainly due to to strong per­for­mance of eq­uity schemes and in­vestor ed­u­ca­tion ini­tia­tives ini­ti­ated by Amfi and mu­tual fund houses, Geo­jit Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor Satish Menon said.
