LA TO­MATINA

La To­matina is a farm-friendly fes­ti­val that orig­i­nated in Bunol around 1944. This oneof-a-kind food fight has been gath­er­ing thou­sands of tourists from all over the world, each year grow­ing by leaps. Sim­i­lar to Holi in In­dia, in­stead of colours, toma­toes are hurled at each other. The fes­ti­val trans­forms the streets of Bunol into a free-for-all food fight­ing arena. NOT­TING HILL CAR­NI­VAL The an­nual Not­ting Hill Car­ni­val is a grandiose street fes­ti­val that usu­ally takes place on the last week­end of Au­gust. It be­gins on a Satur­day evening with a range of per­for­mances, in­clud­ing mu­sic bands and other out­door stage shows. On Sun­day morn­ing, a colourful Caribbean car­ni­val takes place, fol­lowed by a pa­rade in the af­ter­noon. Peo­ple of all ages march in fancy cos­tumes. The Grand Fi­nale hap­pens on the fol­low­ing Mon­day wherein the streets are packed with mu­sic bands, mo­bile sound sys­tems, dancers and per­form­ers.
