MARRIOTT has announced plans for its first W Hotels property in Italy, with the 159-room Rome hotel scheduled to open in 2021. W Rome will be housed within two historic buildings in the city’s Via Veneto district. Features will include a rooftop bar, the brand’s signature W Living Room lobby concept, FIT workout facility and spa, “two vibrant restaurants” and 120 sqm of meeting space. TWA HOTEL is scheduled to open in 2018 on the rooftop of the namesake (and erstwhile) terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. The central lounge area, carpeted and upholstered in TWA’s signature red, will become the hotel lobby and be surrounded by eight bars and six restaurants. The terminal’s former Lisbon Lounge, Paris Café, and Ambassador’s Club will also find new life as drinking and dining spaces. The terminal’s mechanical flight-information boards will be revamped and repurposed to deliver hotel and event related messages. Guest rooms will be housed in a pair of new towers curving over the former terminal building.
