Ashwin Sundar Passes Away
IT IS WITH DEEP REGRET THAT WE report that Ashwin Sundar, one of the most talented racers in the country, and his wife, Niveditha, passed away recently in a tragic car accident in Chennai. The young racer was one of the finest in the national championship and was adored by his fans and competition.
Born in July 1985, Ashwin first tasted success aer becoming the national go-kart champion in 2002. In the following year, the teenager won the same title once again. In 2003-04, he went on to become the MRF Formula Mondial champion and also made his début in the Formula FISSME and Formula LGB series, where he finished fourth. Ashwin’s success was not restricted to openwheel racing. In 2006, he entered the motorcycle racing scene and was crowned ‘Champion of Champions’ aer he won the 115- and 150-cc fourstroke titles.
Year aer year, he kept on impressing the crowds with his skilful driving and riding in various championships such as Formula Hyundai, Formula Swi, MRF Formula 1600 International Challenge, Formula 4 National series and the MRF FF 1600 series. Along the way he also won multiple titles, earning the respect of some of India’s great drivers like Narain Karthikeyan and Armaan Ebrahim, among others. Ashwin’s untimely death has le a deep impact on the Indian motor sport and automotive fraternity alike.
