BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo Steps In
IN A STRATEGIC MOVE TO MARK THEMSELVES OUT, BMW HAVE introduced the all-new 6 Series Gran Turismo. The new 6 GT replaces the 5 Series GT as the new 5er steps in to take the executive challenge forward. The 6 Series Coupé is being silenced, with the 8 Series set to take its place in the revised line-up. Word on the straße is that the 6 Series Gran Coupé may also not make it to the next model year.
The new 6 Series Gran Turismo borrows heavily from the new 5er’s styling, with a front face reminiscent of its four-door odd-numbered sibling. The interior remains just as upmarket as ever, with some modern additions coming in from bigger 7 Series as well. The engine line-up for now comprises the 252-PS turbo-petrol four in the 630i, the 265-PS turbo-diesel six in the 630d, and the uprated 340-PS turbo-petrol six in the 640i. The eight-speed automatic transmission is offered as standard, with xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive being an option with most engine choices.
Reports also suggest that BMW India will soon bring in the 6 GT to India as a locally-assembled offering targeted at the recently introduced Mercedes long-wheelbase E-Class.
