OUR LONG-TERM BREZZA HAS PLENTY OF good bits and a few mi­nor nig­gles too. For in­stance, the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel is pretty fru­gal, hap­pily re­turn­ing 17 km/l in the city and close to 21 km/l on open high­ways. But it could do with some more power, es­pe­cially while ne­go­ti­at­ing steep in­clines and high­ways.

Sim­i­larly, the sus­pen­sion setup is sporty which re­ally helps in re­duc­ing body-roll dur­ing fast cor­ner­ing, but at lower speeds over bad patches of roads your fam­ily might crib about the bouncy ride. I sus­pect there are a few rat­tling bits in the door panel be­cause of the road con­di­tion and firm sus­pen­sion setup.

I like the way Maruti have equipped the ZDi+ vari­ant. Be­ing an iPhone user, I re­ally make most of the Ap­ple CarPlay which mir­rors the phone on the car’s in­for­ma­tion dis­play. An­other use­ful fea­ture is the re­verse cam­era which is help­ful in park­ing the car in the tight­est spot.

We hope to take the Brezza on a long drive soon (apart from photo shoots and press con­fer­ences in Pune and Mum­bai) and, hope­fully, we’ll get to write an even more de­tailed re­port then.
