Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
Variant: ZDi+ Kilometres driven: 11,593 Like: Ride quality, design, practicality Dislike: Engine could be peppier
The Brezza is the car of my choice when I go out to scout for new shoot locations, visit my son’s school or for the weekend getaway. The soft-roader’s spacious cabin, high ground clearance, diesel motor, and taut suspension are reasons enough. The firm setup doesn’t make the ride very comfortable in the city, but feels absolutely spot-on on highways.
I like the confidence this car inspires when I toss it through a series of bends. Step on the gas and it steam-rolls over unpaved roads and loose gravel. However, at city speeds larger potholes do manage to unsettle the car. One has to squeeze the DDiS to make the juices flow on the faster sections of roads. The comparatively small 1.3-litre oil-burner tends to lack the steam on steep inclines, too, so one has to rev it hard to get the turbo going.
I can confidently say that this is a likeable car with plenty of features such as auto wipers and headlights, parking camera and a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. With an average fuel economy of 18 km/l, the Brezza seals the deal for me.
