Viper ACR Sets 7:01.3 on Final ‘Ring Attempt
An independent crowd-fu nded eff ort to bid adieu to what many consider the greatest American sports car, the Viper saw a privateer group take two stock Viper ACR from a Texas dealership and embark on a quest to cement the Viper’s spot in history. Driver Lance Arnold set a time of 7:01.3 on his first flying lap. The day Arnold set his time, one car suffered a seized diff, and the other crashed following a high-speed tyre failure. That the Viper could post a sub-seven-minute time was widely believed. This attempt makes it the fastest American, rear-wheel-drive, manual-transmission car around the gruesome circuit.
