Indian Touring Cars (ITC)
The qualifying session of the Indian Touring Cars was incredibly close with Deepak Paul Chinnappa of Bengaluru (Race Concept) leading the championship, posting a time of 1:53.068. In second place was defending champion Arjun Narendran of Coimbatore (Red Rooster Performance) just 0.064 seconds behind. The race saw Deepak mount a lead with Arjun dropping down into third for most of the race. Ashish Ramaswamy of Bengaluru (Red Rooster Performance) was running in second, but a brake failure on lap six for Deepak and a mistake by Ashish on the last lap meant Arjun claimed first spot, with Deepak having to settle for seventh and Ashish sticking to second. The last spot on the podium was taken by D Vidya Prakash of Coimbatore (Prime Racing).
The final race of the season was a nail-biter with Arjun Narendran taking the lead in the championship from Deepak Paul Chinnappa by 12 points, and with the title on the line between both racers it was sure to be exciting. Arjun needed to finish third to ensure that he defended his title but he did much better, taking the lead by the second lap and pushing on into the distance. Deepak had a lot to do having started in seventh for the last race and getting stuck in traffic didn’t help him much, but a spin meant he had to settle for fourth in the race. Arjun Narendran drove flawlessly throughout and was crowned national champion, Ashish Ramaswamy claimed second and D Vidya Prakash took third to complete the top three.
