Indian Touring Car (ITC)
Race one saw the return of defending champion Arjun Narendran of Arka Motorsports. Narendran sat out the first two rounds of the season but marked his return to the ITC championship with a hard-fought victory against Arjun Balu of Race Concepts. Third place went to Ashish Ramaswamy, also from the Arka Motorsports team and current leader on the points table.
This was simply the Arjun Narendran show. Reverse grid meant that Narendran started from fourth position and, by the time the car passed the line marking the first lap, he had already taken first place and seemed unstoppable. Arjun Balu, who started in third place, took a fair bit of time to get to second spot and by the time he did, Narendran had opened up a fair lead. Balu tried his best to hunt down Narendran, setting up what might possibly be exciting remaining laps, but, unfortunately for Balu, engine trouble forced this winner of both the races in the previous round in Coimbatore, to retire from the race. Narendran coasted to a comfortable and easy win, followed by Ashish Ramaswamy in a distant second, and N Leelakrishnan in third. The second-place result for Ashish Ramaswamy and Arjun Balu’s engine blow-out helped Ramaswamy to increase his lead on the ITC points table.
