‘Gimme the full twelve!’
› Pagani do not build the engine ― they’re not stupid ― and if you’re going to buy one in, who better to commission it from than Tobias Moers’ merry band, AMG? Their V8s are to die for, so you can forgive anyone who drives the Huayra for going gooey over the car’s 6.0-litre twinturbo V12, developed by AMG to Horacio Pagani’s exacting brief. 730 PS and sold out.
Aston DBS Superleggera
› The Vanquish S is dead. Aston’s new flagship is the front-engined British GT sent supernova by a 725-PS version of Aston’s twin-turbo V12. The engine pairs that headline power figure with 900 Nm at 1,800 rpm for 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and 0-160 km/h in 6.4 seconds. Yours from £225k (Rs 2 crore), but Aston will surely sack any dealer who doesn’t add at least £50k (Rs 45 lakh) in options.
Lamborghini Aventador S
› Wide, intimidating, colossally quick but about as wieldy as a 747, the Aventador started to get its act together with the SV. 2017’s Aventador S, with 812 Superfast-esque four-wheel steering, was a huge step forward, bringing real tactility and agility to the Aventador’s game. And saddled though it is by an old-school transmission, the V12 remains mesmeric.
