MD, Volvo Car India
Volvo Car India are on the rise and the man in charge, Charles Frump, who took over as MD in 2017, is leading the company from the front. Under Frump’s leadership the company has introduced products such as the XC60, a premium SUV that has garnered great reviews and is in good demand in the Indian market, and the new XC40, the most compact luxury SUV from Volvo. Frump is also responsible for the growing number of Volvo dealerships in the country, which has enabled the company to expand their footprint in the domestic market.
Frump has indicated that, after the XC90 and S90, the company is also looking to assemble the XC60 locally, which will not only bring down its price but also drive the company’s growth.
Apart from being a dynamic businessman, Frump is also known for his association with Ford’s motor sport division. He has over 17 years of experience in the automotive industry and has been associated with Volvo cars for nine years. His association with Volvo began in 2008 in Sweden as a senior director in the marketing division. He has also worked in a number of markets, including China, Japan, the US, and Sweden. He has a rich experience in handling emerging markets, which allowed Volvo to shift him to India as an ideal candidate to spearhead their domestic operations.
