Looking for a Good 4x4

Car India - - YOUR VIEWS -

I'm looking to purchase a good 4x4 but I have some criteria that need to be met. My budget is about Rs 10 lakh. During the week I drive about 50 km per day in city traffic. Twice a month I travel out of the city to rural areas on roads that are not in good repair. Please advise me if a diesel car will be better or if a petrol one will serve the purpose just as well. I need a vehicle that is tough and easy to repair. Would you suggest an automatic or manual as city driving gets very tiresome? Looking forward to some useful and well-researched guidance from you. Tushar Singh, Jaipur Dear Tushar, The Mahindra Thar would fit the bill perfectly for your requirements, priced as it is around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom) and is equipped with four-wheel drive. It is definitely tough and easy to maintain. If you want something that has all-wheel drive but is more road-biased, since you commute quite a bit in the city, then you'll have to stretch your budget a little and take the Renault Duster AWD into consideration. Both the Thar and the Duster AWD only come with diesel engines and manual transmission.
