De­spite hold­ing prom­ise, the lo­gis­tics sec­tor in In­dia re­mains mired in sev­eral com­plex­i­ties which have the po­ten­tial of hold­ing it back.

These in­clude sig­nif­i­cant in­ef­fi­cien­cies in trans­porta­tion, poor con­di­tion of stor­age in­fra­struc­ture, lack of ef­fi­cient and ro­bust sup­ply chain and cold chain, a com­plex tax struc­ture, low rate of tech­nol­ogy adop­tion and poor skills of the lo­gis­tics pro­fes­sion­als and many more.

In this back­drop, the PHD Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try is or­gan­is­ing ’ Lo­gis­tics Con­clave-2014’ in New Delhi. The ob­jec­tive of this con­clave is to dis­cuss the op­por­tu­ni­ties and chal­lenges in the dif­fer­ent facets of lo­gis­tics sec­tor and also to de­lib­er­ate on think­ing the way for­ward.

A large num­bers of del­e­gates are ex­pected to join this Con­clave from Lo­gis­tics ser­vice providers and 3PL com­pa­nies, Freight For­warders and Cargo Agents, Rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the truck­ing in­dus­try, Food Pro­cess­ing & Sea Food Com­pa­nies, Phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal Com­pa­nies, Ware­house and Cold stor­age own­ers, Sup­ply chain so­lu­tion & tech­nol- ogy providers, Fac­ul­ties and stu­dents from lo­gis­tics in­sti­tutes and other aca­demic in­sti­tu­tions as well as Govern­ment of­fi­cials from Min­istry of Agri­cul­ture & Food Pro­cess­ing, Min­istry of Ship­ping, Road trans­port and Min­istry of Rail­ways.
