Good days ahead for the Indian Air Cargo Industry
The PHD – GMR Round Table Talk, organised by the GMR Group, saw serious discussions on the future of Indian air cargo industry. The participants discussed the need for paperless air cargo clearance. Participants felt that there should be some transparency in the process of air cargo clearance, and also in documentation required at the airport. Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation Ashok Lavasa said that the ministry would allow airport developers to clear air cargo in the near future, provided the required customs related formalities are completed as per established rules and regulations. An air-freight station policy to enable airport developers to clear such cargo into 24x7 service mode is also in the offing.
