Faster air cargo clear­ance

The PHD-GMR Round Ta­ble Talk on ‘In­dian Air Cargo-Fu­ture Out­look’ chalked out im­por­tant points for the In­dian air cargo in­dus­try . At­tended by the avi­a­tion & cargo in­dus­try ex­perts, the panel dis­cussed the air-freight sta­tion pol­icy as well as the clear­ance of air cargo for smooth func­tion­ing at air­ports.

In a round­table talk on In­dian air cargo or­gan­ised by the PHD Cham­ber of Com­merce & In­dus­try and the GMR Group re­cently, the civil avi­a­tion min­istry has re­cently al­lowed air­port de­vel­op­ers to clear air cargo, pro­vided the re­quired cus­toms- re­lated for­mal­i­ties are com­pleted as per es­tab­lished rules & reg­u­la­tions, said Ashok

A spe­cial ad­dress was given by Canan Celebioglu, Vice Chair­per­son, Celebi Hold­ings, Is­tan­bul, Turkey, sought to build a sus­tained part­ner­ship for the mu­tual growth of the civil avi­a­tion sec­tors of Turkey and In­dia, so that both the na­tions can ben­e­fit in an eq­ui­table and fair man­ner.

The dis­cus­sion at­tended by the avi­a­tion and cargo in­dus­try ex­perts also fo­cussed on mak­ing the pro­ce­dure of cargo ship­ment eas­ier by go­ing pa­per­less. Lavasa also in­formed that, while the air-freight sta­tion pol­icy would be an­nounced within a month’s time to en­able air­port de­vel­op­ers to clear such cargo into 24x7 ser­vice mode and, the work was on for is­suance of avi­a­tion se­cu­rity cir­cu­lar within the con­cerned stake hold­ers of avi­a­tion sec­tor, in­clud­ing its reg­u­la­tor.

Alok B Shri­ram, SVP, PHD Cham­ber, com­ple­mented the Fi­nance Min­is­ter for an­nounc­ing a num­ber of sops to stoke growth in the In­dian civil sec­tor in its Bud­get for the cur­rent fis­cal year, hop­ing that the In­dian air cargo in­dus­try would be able to take full ad­van­tage of them.
