‘Pakistan India cooperation in coldchain sector’
As per a news report, the Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has recently met Food Processing Minister
Harsimrat Kaur Badal and said India can cooperate in development of the cold-chain sector in Pakistan.
Basit has said that Pakistan is also looking to learn from Indian experience on coldchains. “The idea is to see how India has done it, so we can replicate it and then see some possibility from private partnerships,” he added.
“India can cooperate, because at the moment, Pakistan is working on developing cold chain for our agriculture produce... that is one area where we can cooperate,” Basit confirmed in an interview after the meeting.
He also said that Pakistan is already importing vegetables from India such as potatoes and there are some fruits which Pakistan can export to India, and she (Badal) is open to that.
