Atthe 2nd International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) meeting of regional Trainair Plus course developers and instructors standardisation (CDI/STDs) for AsiaPacific region, ICAO announced the elevation of GMR Aviation Academy from ‘Associate Member’ to the prestigious ‘FullMember’, also known as ‘Gold Member’ status of the prestigious ICAO Trainair Plus programme.
Held in the first week of July at Novotel Airport Hotel, Hyderabad the latest honour marks the growing presence and significance of the Academy as it has designed its own Standardised Training Package (STP), which has been validated and approved by ICAO to facilitate this elevation. Currently, only two aviation training centres in India enjoy this coveted status, of them, one is in the government sector and the second is GMR Aviation Academy which is the only academy in the private sector in India to have been bestowed with this honour. Pradeep Chandra, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, the event saw a culmination of over 85 participants spanning 17 countries and participants were engaged in brain- storming to identify opportunities for improvement of training deliverables and instructional design.
The meeting also opened avenues for the aviation training community to identify challenges and potential solutions, related to the development and delivery of training courses.
