AMTOI elects of­fice-bear­ers

Elec­tion re­sults were an­nounced in the an­nual gen­eral meet­ing in which Ravin­dra J Gandhi and Xerxes Master were ap­pointed to the Man­ag­ing Com­mit­tee of the as­so­ci­a­tion.

At the 15th An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing of the As­so­ci­a­tion of Mul­ti­modal Trans­port Op­er­a­tors of In­dia (AMTOI) held on Septem­ber 3 in Mumbai elects Sailesh Bha­tia, Shan­tanu Bhad­kamkar, Vivek Kele, RK Ru­bin as Pres­i­dent, Vice-Pres­i­dent, Sec­re­tary and Trea­sure re­spec­tively for 2014-15.

The Elec­tion re­sults were an­nounced in the AGM and it was in­formed that Ravin­dra J Gandhi and Xerxes Master were elected un­op­posed to the Man­ag­ing Com­mit­tee of AMTOI.

The AGM was well at­tended by the mem­bers and Pres­i­dent Sailesh Bha­tia gave a brief­ing to the mem­bers about the As­so­ci­a­tion ac­tiv­i­ties in the year 13-14.

Ravin­dra J Gandhi, AMTOI pres­i­dent gave a pre­sen­ta­tion on AMTOI joint ini­tia­tive with Port of An­twerp called “In­dia Natie” which is es­sen­tially a web por­tal www.in­di­a­naties.com.

Dur­ing the AGM meet­ing Gau­tam Chat­ter­jee, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Shipping (DGS) IAS launched AMTOI’s new look web­site on the oc­ca­sion www.amtoi.org.

In the in­ter­ac­tive ses­sion Gau­tam Chater­jee spoke on the ini­tia­tives be­ing taken and con­sid­ered by the Min­istry of Shipping and the Direc­torate to fa­cil­i­tate bet­ter business en­vi­ron­ment.

He stressed that the Min­istry is fo­cused on good gov­er­nance, speedy decision mak­ing and for­mu­lat­ing the right pol­icy mea­sures for fa­cil­i­tat­ing cargo move­ment and other lo­gis­tics ac­tiv­i­ties. He em­pha­sised that the Min­istry has taken up the is­sue of mak­ing Mul­ti­modal Trans­porta­tion of Goods (MMTG) Act more ef­fec­tive, point­ing out that cur­rently only about 10 per cent of the ac­tual mul­ti­modal trans­port that takes place is be­ing car­ried out by MTOs regis­tered un­der the Act.
