More ports, air­ports get 24x7 Cus­toms fa­cil­ity

Fa­cil­ity now avail­able at 13 more air­ports and 14 more sea ports. This has been started with ef­fect from De­cem­ber 31, 2014.

Acir­cu­lar an­nounc­ing ex­ten­sion of 24×7 Cus­toms clear­ance fa­cil­ity in re­spect of all ex­port goods at 13 more air­ports and 14 more sea ports in terms of spec­i­fied im­port and ex­port goods has been is­sued by the Cen­tral Board of Ex­cise and Cus­toms (CBEC) with ef­fect from De­cem­ber 31, 2014 pursuant to a prom­ise made by In­dian Fi­nance Min­is­ter Arun Jait­ley in his Bud­get 2014-15 speech in the be­gin­ning of July 2014. The CBEC in its cir­cu­lar said, “Board has also de­cided that with ef­fect from De­cem­ber 31, 2014 the fa­cil­ity of 24×7 Cus­toms clear­ance for spec­i­fied im­ports viz. goods cov­ered by fa­cil­i­tated Bills of En­try and all ex­ports viz. goods cov­ered by all Ship­ping Bills will be made avail­able, at 17 air cargo com­plexes.”

The move was started way back in Septem­ber 2012 at four in­ter­na­tional air cargo com­plexes. Later, in June 2013, the or­der was ex­tended to cover 13 more air cargo com­plexes. Re­lated is­sues such as avail­abil­ity of re­quired per­son­nel, keep­ing open the de­liv­ery gates 24×7 at air cargo com­plexes, etc have been re­solved.
