Ashok Ga­jap­athi Raju, Civil Avi­a­tion Min­is­ter said, “An area mea­sur­ing 2213 sqm was pro­vided for con­struc­tion of do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional air cargo ter­mi­nal with the thresh­old area of 1000 sqm each,” adding "AAI is in process of prepa­ra­tion of rel­e­vant draw­ings or lay­out plan for pro­posed in­ter­na­tional and do­mes­tic Air Cargo Com­plex fa­cil­ity at Pune air­port."

The AAI has also un­der­taken a pre­lim­i­nary fea­si­bil­ity study of the pro­posed site for the up­com­ing green­field air­port at Khed (Pune). The gov­ern­ment of Ma­ha­rash­tra has given in-prin­ci­ple ap­proval for the site at Khed.
