Taking cargo to Cloud web-based solutions

Cargo Talk - - Aviation -

At IATA's e-Cargo Conference and Workshop in Geneva, WIN's John DeBenedette urged the air cargo community to make the longdue shift to an internet-based platform and to abandon outdated 'store and forward' messaging. WIN is an e-platform for air forwarders.

Forwarders transport cargo through air– companies that offer door-to-airport and airport-to-door services. This process is not a linear one and comprises a network of nodes or intermediate stations, which are basically airports on way to the destination. At these nodes, cargo is stored and then later flown to another node or directly to its destination, as the case may be. DeBennette advocates debunking of technology used in this process, which is often inefficient and expensive, and urges that the business model of aviation cargo be renewed with new technologies.
