Are the other markets in Asia that Dachser is interested in?

Podesta: Though, we are present in a number of countries, there are two of them in Asia that are key for us - China and India. We were not the first company to get into South East Asia, but today, we have our presence in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand and we would like to strengthen our position in these countries.

Our long-time Korean partner decided to retire and we took the company over. Now, we have a company that we are pushing to integrate into our network. We are in Bangladesh, Greater China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. So, the focus is where we are already present. But, the stronger focus is still on China and India. Probably, in the next two to three years, we will look at Australia and New Zealand. It is somewhere we want to be present in due time, but we are not in a hurry.

China is now turning into a consumption economy from a manufacturing economy. The ‘factory of the world’ as it was called, is already changing its focus. Simultaneously, India, earlier called the ‘office of the world’, is now slowly transitioning into the ‘factory’, thanks to PM Modi.
