Pant­na­gar Air­port to be de­vel­oped as cargo hub

The Pant­na­gar Air­port will soon be de­vel­oped as a cargo hub, ac­cord­ing to a de­ci­sion taken at a meet­ing of the Air­port Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee. Other rec­om­men­da­tions of the com­mit­tee in­clude ac­qui­si­tion of land for the ex­pan­sion of the air­port, along with in­tro­duc­tion of new flights to Dehradun and Delhi.

N Subra­ma­niam, Di­rec­tor, Pant­na­gar Air­port said, “The main points dis­cussed were ac­qui­si­tion of land for ex­pan­sion, de­vel­op­ment of the air­port as a cargo hub to ful­fill the de­mands of ad­ja­cent in­dus­trial area and in­creas­ing con­nec­tiv­ity through more flights.”

Clear­ance of Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Civil Avi­a­tion of­fice re­lated to range of vis­i­bil­ity was granted for the air­port to land at the vis­i­bil­ity range of 2,700 m in May this year. The master plan for the air­port in­cludes its ex­pan­sion for which the re­quest for 500 acres of land has al­ready been for­warded to the state gov­ern­ment.
