In a joint initiative, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) and Air Cargo Handling Association of India (ACHAI), conducted a one-day Basic Cargo Awareness Programme (BCAP) at the Training Centre of DCSC Cargo Terminal, Delhi Airport on October 20, 2015.
Speaking on the occasion, Murali Ramachandran, CEO, Celebi Airport Cargo Terminal Management India, said, “This is a great initiative taken by the government and industry. Skilled logistics industry is the need of the hour.”
Renu Singh Parmar, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India added, “This is something I have been looking forward to from a long time. It is good that the industry has taken over the charge of the requirements of the cargo industry. Sitting in the ministry, we have a macro vision of what is happening around, but people working at the ground level know where the shoe pinches. This is one area which needs to be addressed so that the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Skill India’ is fulfilled.”
“For Digital India, we are introducing EDI in our airports and also working on e-modules for the efficient movement of cargo,” she said. “We need to make sure that skilling should be our priority because with skills only we can improve productivity and have value addition to our industry.”
The course will be taken to other cities as well.
