Q How will this merger help in im­prov­ing the air and sea freight ser­vices?

Be­sides, adding air and sea freight for­ward­ing ex­per­tise to a range of lo­gis­tics so­lu­tions, the GE­FCO Group also aims at ex­pand­ing its ge­o­graph­i­cal foot­print. This al­lows the cus­tomers and busi­ness part­ners to ben­e­fit from im­me­di­ate ac­cess to the main trade flows–trad­ing be­tween South­east Asia and the United States, trad­ing within South­east Asia and trad­ing be­tween Europe and South­east Asia.

Q Which in­dus­try ver­ti­cals are you fo­cus­ing on to im­prove air and ocean freight ser­vices?

IJS op­er­ates across var­i­ous busi­ness sec­tors in­clud­ing phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, hu­man­i­tar­ian

We con­sider the In­dian mar­ket as a promis­ing one. We have in­vested via Mer­cu­rio Pal­lia to de­velop out­bound ser­vices

re­lief, high-tech, oil and min­ing and fash­ion which will add to our cur­rent ex­per­tise in the au­to­mo­tive, FMCG and aero­space mar­kets. GE­FCO brings value for man­ag­ing and op­ti­mis­ing com­plex sup­ply chains and this is what global man­u­fac­tur­ers need.

Q Would you like to com­ment on the cur­rent state of In­dian au­to­mo­tive lo­gis­tics in­dus­try?

What we see in the In­dian car mar­ket is an in­crease in the do­mes­tic sales again. This should al­low our Mer­cu­rio Pal­lia joint ven­ture to move for­wards on out­bound busi­ness both for car, bikes and scoot­ers as well as Truck-on-Truck trans­porta­tion.

Q What is In­dia’s con­tri­bu­tion as com­pared to your global pres­ence?

We con­sider the In­dian mar­ket as a promis­ing one. We have in­vested in via Mer­cu­rio Pal­lia to de­velop out­bound ser­vices. In the very near past, we have also set up a new sub­sidiary, GE­FCO In­dia, with the ob­jec­tive of de­vel­op­ing our freight for­ward­ing busi­ness there, as part of our global net­work of over 40 sub­sidiaries in the world.

We are look­ing for­ward to com­bin­ing the knowl­edge and ex­pe­ri­ence of our teams for fu­ture growth

Q Any ac­qui­si­tion plans to strengthen GE­FCO pres­ence in In­dia?

At the mo­ment, in­ter­nal growth is our real fo­cus as we are able to of­fer all our cus­tomer trans­porta­tion ca­pac­i­ties and value added ser­vices such as yard man­age­ment in au­to­mo­tive out­bound In­dus­try via Mer­cu­rio Pal­lia and freight for­ward­ing ser­vices through GE­FCO In­dia.
