GEFCO: Global expansion plans

Q How will this merger help in improving the air and sea freight services?
Besides, adding air and sea freight forwarding expertise to a range of logistics solutions, the GEFCO Group also aims at expanding its geographical footprint. This allows the customers and business partners to benefit from immediate access to the main trade flows–trading between Southeast Asia and the United States, trading within Southeast Asia and trading between Europe and Southeast Asia.

We consider the Indian market as a promising one. We have invested via Mercurio Pallia to develop outbound services
relief, high-tech, oil and mining and fashion which will add to our current expertise in the automotive, FMCG and aerospace markets. GEFCO brings value for managing and optimising complex supply chains and this is what global manufacturers need.
Q Would you like to comment on the current state of Indian automotive logistics industry?
What we see in the Indian car market is an increase in the domestic sales again. This should allow our Mercurio Pallia joint venture to move forwards on outbound business both for car, bikes and scooters as well as Truck-on-Truck transportation.
Q What is India’s contribution as compared to your global presence?
We consider the Indian market as a promising one. We have invested in via Mercurio Pallia to develop outbound services. In the very near past, we have also set up a new subsidiary, GEFCO India, with the objective of developing our freight forwarding business there, as part of our global network of over 40 subsidiaries in the world.

Q Any acquisition plans to strengthen GEFCO presence in India?
At the moment, internal growth is our real focus as we are able to offer all our customer transportation capacities and value added services such as yard management in automotive outbound Industry via Mercurio Pallia and freight forwarding services through GEFCO India.
