LNG ter­mi­nal to come up at Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam port

Af­ter a pub­lic hear­ing in the vicin­ity of Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam port, J. Murthy, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, Visakha­p­at­nam - LNG Bharat Pri­vate Lim­ited, said that the com­pany is set­ting up a float­ing LNG ter­mi­nal with a ca­pac­ity of five mil­lion tonnes per an­num (mtpa) at Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam port in Nel­lore district.

In a state­ment he said that the com­pany had taken 120 acres of land from the port and leased a berth for set­ting up the ter­mi­nal and a pipe­line would also be laid from Kr­ish­na­p­at­nam to En­nore in Tamil Nadu, via Sul­lu­ru­peta and Sri City. The to­tal pro­ject cost, in­clud­ing the ter­mi­nal and the pipe­line, is es­ti­mated to be ` 1,400 crore. “Vim­tas Labs, Hyderabad, pre­pared the en­vi­ron­men­tal im­pact as­sess­ment re­port and en­vi­ron­men­tal clear­ance is ex­pected in two months time,” he said.
