Ethiopian now ser­vices Ben­galuru

Ethiopian Air­lines, the fast grow­ing air­line in Africa, has started freighter flights to Ben­galuru, the fourth desti­na­tion in In­dia, in ad­di­tion to Mum­bai, New Delhi and Chen­nai.

Ben­galuru is home to more than 2,000 hi-tech com­pa­nies and is see­ing a high growth in biotech, health­care and con­struc­tion in­dus­tries. Fit­sum Abady, MD, Ethiopian Cargo said “Ethiopian is grow­ing fast with cargo, a key part of its of­fer­ing. Our Vi­sion 2025 strat­egy cov­ers global growth, but our fo­cus is com­par­a­tively more to and from Asia, both in terms of fre­quency and in num­ber of cargo po­ten­tial ori­gins to Africa.”

He added, “Ethiopian Air­lines has placed it­self at the cen­tre of the cru­cial China-In­dia-Africa trade lane help­ing ro­bust growth of cargo op­er­a­tion.”

Tadesse Ti­lahun, Re­gional Di­rec­tor, In­dia Sub Con­ti­nent, said, “Ben­galuru is an im­por­tant sec­tor for us since it is a hub of IT and biotech sec­tors apart from hous­ing var­i­ous MNC set ups.”
