APM Ter­mi­nals Pi­pavav gets the first Dou­ble Stack train from the multi-modal lo­gis­tic park at Kathuwas.

APM Ter­mi­nals Pi­pavav wel­comed the first dou­ble stack train from the multi-modal lo­gis­tic park at Kathuwas, Ra­jasthan. The Con­tainer Cor­po­ra­tion of In­dia (CONCOR) re­cently in­au­gu­rated this 288acre, state-of-the-art multi-modal lo­gis­tics park at Kathuwas. It is lo­cated 1,139 km (700 miles) from APM Ter­mi­nals Pi­pavav and 116 km (72 miles) from Delhi.

The dou­ble stack train, which ef­fi­ciently car­ries two con­tain­ers, one atop an­other on spe­cially de­signed rail cars, de­liv­ered con­tain­ers rep­re­sent­ing 180 Twenty-foot Equiv­a­lent Units (TEUs) car­ry­ing yarn, gar­ments and auto parts from north­ern In­dia for ex­port through APM Ter­mi­nals Pi­pavav. Keld Ped­er­sen, Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor, APM Ter­mi­nals Pi­pavav, said, “The ef­fi­cient and en­vi­ron­men­tally sus­tain­able rail ser­vice be­tween Pi­pavav Port and an­other key in­land cargo hub is an­other ma­jor step in mak­ing Pi­pavav the port of choice for Western In­dia.”
