AAI to re­vamp Im­phal cargo ter­mi­nal

Air­ports Author­ity of In­dia (AAI) will un­der­take the work for con­struc­tion of In­te­grated Cargo Ter­mi­nal (ICT) at Im­phal Air­port af­ter ob­tain­ing grant-in-aid un­der Trade In­fra­struc­ture for Ex­port Scheme (TIES) of Min­istry of Com­merce & In­dus­try (MoC&I), Gov­ern­ment of In­dia. The Gov­ern­ment of Ma­nipur had planned to es­tab­lish an Ex­port Im­port Cargo Ter­mi­nal (EICT) at Tuli­hal, Im­phal Air­port un­der ASIDE scheme of the (MoC&I), Gov­ern­ment of In­dia. The ob­jec­tives of es­tab­lish­ment of ICT at Im­phal Air­port are:

Ex­port pro­mo­tion for hand­i­crafts items and per­ish­able cargo.

Fos­ter­ing of eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment of the re­gion.

Gen­er­at­ing em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties in NER.

To es­tab­lish con­nec­tiv­ity be­tween South & South­east Asia, thereby achiev­ing the im­proved ef­fi­ciency and pro­duc­tiv­ity.

Lib­er­al­i­sa­tion of trade with In­dia and the As­so­ci­a­tion of South­east Asian Na­tions.

`12.96 A Grant of crore of the to­tal cost es­ti­ma­tion

`16.20 of crore has been sanc­tioned by MoC&I un­der TIES and the bal­ance amount to con­struct the cargo ter­mi­nal will be met out of in­ter­nal sources of AAI.
