OPPI award for Dr Srinivas Reddy

Reddy who is doing research at
Laboratory, Pune, has received the prestigious Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India ( OPPI)
2017 for his research work in the area of pharmaceutical sciences.
The OPPI award, consisting of a trophy, a citation and a cash prize of ` 1 lakh, was presented to Dr. Srinivas Reddy during the OPPI’s 51st annual day celebrations. He is known for the application of Siliconswitch approach, a management protocol for treating diseases affecting the central nervous system in his researches and is a recipient of the Bronze Medal of the Chemical Research Society of India, NASIReliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award and the Drug Research Excellence Award of the Central Drug Research Institute.
D. Srinivasa Reddy graduated in chemistry from Osmania University in 1991. Enrolling for his doctoral studies under the guidance of Goverdhan Mehta, a noted chemist and former vice chancellor of University of Hyderabad, he moved to Indian Institute of Science when Mehta took up the position as the head of the department of organic chemistry at IISc. His PhD came from Hyderabad University in 2000, and he proceeded to the US where he did his post-doctoral work at the laboratories of Sergey A. Kozmin of the University of Chicago and Jeffrey Aubé of University of Kansasduring. In 2010, he left for National Chemical Laboratory where he works as a senior scientist.
Reddy also was elected as a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) and recently he was also awarded the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize in chemical sciences. Last year he was elected as a fellow of Telangana and Maharashtra Academies of Sciences.
The decision was taken at the board meeting of FAI. This will be the second term for K S Raju as Chairman, FAI. He was Chairman of FAI during 2008-2010. Solvay has inaugurated its Solef polyvinylidene
® fluoride (PVDF) plant in China. This will help the company meet booming global demand for this thermoplastic polymer in energy-efficient, environmental and industrial applications.
