Chemical Industry Digest - - News & Views -

The new plant located in the Chemiepark Marl will support customer demand and ensure security of supply for Ineos plants in Gladbeck and Antwerp. It will use existing pipeline connections between the company’s Phenol & Acetone production site in Gladbeck, and the Evonik Chemiepark site in Marl. It will also link into the BP refinery and cracker complex in Gelsenkirchen, making it a fully integrated facility.

Its location and connections will allow the plant to be highly efficient, with raw material integration into the refinery and cracker complex, and access to the Marl harbor inland waterway connection, the company announced.

Ineos Phenol is the world largest producer of phenol and acetone and the largest consumer of cumene, which is an essential raw material. Hans Casier, CEO of Ineos Phenol, said that the Marl Chemiepark has been selected as the best location to build a state-of-the-art, world-scale Cumene unit with excellent logistics that would underpin our phenol and acetone sites in Europe. The new plant will be an integral part of the northern Ruhr area Verbund structure.
