Zilla Parishad School Teacher Held with Firearm
The Pune Rural Police recently arrested two men, including a Zilla Parishad schoolteacher, from Rule village in Velhe taluka, about 35 kms from here, and seized two country-made pistols as well as two cartridges from them. The teacher, Tanaji Margale (36), and Dattatreya Nivangune (33) were arrested based on a tip-off received by police constable Dilip Jadhavar of the local crime branch. “Margale claimed that he had the rearm in his possession for self-protection,” said assistant inspector Ankush Mane of the local crime branch. According to Mane, Margale claimed that he was involved in a dispute with a few villagers over some issue. “Margale suspected that his enemies may attack him,” the ofcer said. Mane added that in the last year, Margale had come into contact with a labourer from Bihar, who had helped the accused get the country-made pistols. “The duo were in possession of the weapons since January this year,” Mane said. For now, the local court has granted the police custody of both suspects.
