The health department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will purchase 20,000 tablets of Oseltamivir, popularly known as Tamiu or Fluvir, for nearly 8 lakhs. So far, 31 people have died in Pimpri Chinchwad limits due to H1N1 virus. Seema Savale, Chairperson of the PCMC Standing Committee, stated that a short-notice resolution was approved for this purpose. As per the proposal, the State Government earlier supplied the medicine, but in August 2015 and then in March 2017, Municipal Corporations were told they must buy the medicine on their own. The civic body will purchase 20,000 tablets at a rate of 398 per 10 tablets. The total cost, factoring in the newly implemented GST, comes to 7.96 lakhs.
