FTII to Start Course on Vis­ual Ef­fects & Fin­ish­ing

The Film and Tele­vi­sion In­sti­tute of In­dia (FTII) re­cently an­nounced a 12-week res­i­den­tial foun­da­tion course on vis­ual ef­fects and nish­ing. De­signed to meet the in­dus­try re­quire­ments, the full-time course has an in­take of only 10 and will be con­ducted on the Pune cam­pus from Septem­ber 18. The min­i­mum qualication to join the course is HSC (Class XII). Any­one with ba­sic un­der­stand­ing of and in­ter­est in draw­ing or vis­ual ef­fects or lms can ap­ply, an FTII state­ment stated. The dead­line for re­ceipt of ap­pli­ca­tion form is Au­gust 25. The par­tic­i­pants will be trained in the fun­da­men­tals of vis­ual ef­fects (VFX0) for tele­vi­sion and lms, which will open op­por­tu­ni­ties for them to work with pro­fes­sion­als in the an­i­ma­tion and VFX in­dus­try. They will be ex­posed to var­i­ous tools and pro­cesses to un­der­stand the work process be­hind cre­at­ing VFX. The par­tic­i­pants will get an op­por­tu­nity to de­velop an idea for VFX and par­tic­i­pate in green screen (chroma) shoot­ing process. The course will pro­vide hands-on train­ing in var­i­ous soft­ware. “Vis­ual ef­fects and an­i­ma­tion have be­come an in­sep­a­ra­ble part of lms, tele­vi­sion and in­ter­net, as it makes the plat­form more in­ter­est­ing, in­for­ma­tive and ef­fec­tive. This re­quires aes­thetic skills, vis­ual sense and knowhow of soft­ware to han­dle high-end equip­ment, which this course will pro­vide. Be­sides the strong con­tent packed into this course, a unique fea­ture is the prac­ti­cal ex­pe­ri­ence of pre-pro­duc­tion, pro­duc­tion and post-pro­duc­tion that par­tic­i­pants will be ex­posed to. Reg­u­lar and fre­quent men­tor­ship by lead­ing ex­perts will at­tune the par­tic­i­pants to the cur­rent in­dus­try trends,” said Bhu­pen­dra Kainthola, Di­rec­tor, FTII, Pune.
