PCMC To Con­struct New Roads And Gar­dens In Pe­riph­eral Ar­eas

Af­ter Charholi and Dighi, de­vel­op­ment works will be car­ried out in Chikhali, Rupina­gar and Talawade IT Park, fall­ing on the out­skirts of Pim­pri Chinch­wad. Roads un­der the new De­vel­op­ment Plan (DP) will be laid in these ar­eas. An 18-me­tre wide road from Chikhali to Dehu-Alandi Road, to Dhar­mara­j­na­gar will be con­structed. Twenty-four-me­tre wide roads from Chikhali to Rad­haswami Road, from Chikhali Son­awane Vasti to Chikhali junc­tion and from Anath Ashram to Dehu-Alandi Road will be laid. From Chikhali Sane Chowk to Chikhali Chowk, a 30-me­tre wide road will be built, while an 18-me­tre wide road will come up from Chikhali to cre­ma­to­rium, Rupina­gar, and Tal­wade IT Park. The es­ti­mated project cost is 14.39 crores. Be­sides this, a ded­i­cated bus lane from Bop­khel Phata to Alandi Road is on the cards. At Charholi, as a pi­lot project, PCMC is keen on ex­e­cut­ing town-plan­ning (TP) schemes on the lines of Ahmed­abad. There is a need for im­ple­ment­ing TP schemes in cities for planned de­vel­op­ment, civic of­fi­cials said. PCMC has ap­proved sewage and green space projects worth 151.32 crore in Charholi. As a re­sult, gar­dens will be de­vel­oped at Akurdi, Pu­nawale and Charholi.
