CV sales in July 2016

The Indian auto industry produced a total 8,588,464 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycl­es in April-July 2016 as against 7,809,525 numbers in April-July 2015, registerin­g a growth of 9.97 per cent over the same period last year. The Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 9.65 per cent in April-July 2016, clocking sales of 218,809 vehicles as compared to 199,552 vehicles during the same period last year. In July 2016, the Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 0.11 per cent by clocking sales of 51,853 units as against 51,795 units sold in the correspond­ing month last fiscal. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 8.51 per cent in April-July 2016, clocking sales of 92,379 units as compared to 85,137 units sold during the same period last fiscal. In July 2016, 21,307 M&HCVs were sold, registerin­g a negative growth of (-) 7.61 per cent as against 23,601 units sold during the correspond­ing period last year. Light Commercial Vehicles grew by 10.50 per cent during April-July 2016, clocking sales of 126,430 units as compared to 114,415 units sold during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In July 2016, 30,546 LCVs were sold, clocking a growth of 6.31 per cent as against the sale of 28,734 units during the correspond­ing month last year. Three Wheelers sales grew by 17.32 per cent in April-July 2016 by clocking 185,595 units as against the sale of 158,201 units during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In July 2016, 46,098 units were sold, clocking a growth of 2.10 per cent as against the sale of 45,151 units during the correspond­ing month last year.

Exports

In April-July 2016, overall automobile exports declined by (-) 10.20 per cent. Commercial Vehicles exports registered a growth of 8.84 per cent; 36,364 units were exported as against 33,411 units during the correspond­ing period last fiscal. In July 2016, 10,205 commercial vehicles were exported, clocking a growth of 13.2 per cent as against 9,014 units exported during the correspond­ing month last year. Three Wheelers exports declined by (-) 40.42 per cent; 95,746 units were exported as against the export of 160,693 units during the correspond­ing month last year. In April-July 2016, 1,039 quadricycl­es were exported. In July 2016, 215 quadricycl­es were exported.
