R&D lab for TBR development
Michelin India has commissioned a R&D lab at Manesar in an effort to carve out a larger pie of the growing TBR market. The lab is situated on a land parcel of 300 sq.m., and will provide technical support to the company’s manufacturing facilities at Chennai. The R&D lab will also support acticities at Thailand and China. With an annual research and development budget of over Euro 700 million, Michelin has deployed over 6,000 employees engaged directly in process engineering and R&D. To work closely with other such centres at Europe, Asia and North America, the R&D lab at Manesar will offer crucial support to Michelin technology centre at Gurgaon. To specialise in material research according to Philippe Verneuil, President, Michelin Africa, India and Middle East, the new lab will help the company make robust and fuel efficient TBRs. Serge Godefroid, MD, Michelin India technology Centre, informed that the technical experts at the new center have undergone intense training at Michelin’s French and US facilites before being deployed in India.
